Mercedes‑Benz Group AG Extends Share‑Buyback and Reinforces Technological Leadership

Mercedes‑Benz Group AG has continued its share‑buyback programme, purchasing a further 579 764 shares between 12 and 16 October 2026. The transactions, executed at weighted average prices ranging from roughly €39.58 to €41.17 and settled on the XETA platform, add to the cumulative total of more than five million shares bought back since the programme began in September 2026. The company reports that the buyback is carried out through a bank commissioned by the Group and publishes the details on its investor website.

In parallel, the Group’s presence in the Euro STOXX 50 remained solid, with the automotive maker recording a dividend yield that positioned it among the strongest performers in the index for the year. Market observers noted that Mercedes‑Benz’s share price, while subject to short‑term volatility in the broader European index, has maintained a trajectory of steady gains, reflecting investor confidence in the Group’s long‑term strategy and its expanding footprint in electric and autonomous vehicle technologies.

At the same time, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence at an industry summit in Berlin. He called on businesses, including major car manufacturers, to embrace AI to sustain competitiveness. Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang, present at the event, underscored the partnership with German automakers such as Mercedes‑Benz, which is developing premium robotaxis using Nvidia’s software. The summit, aimed at attracting investment and announcing a German–Nvidia collaboration, is part of a broader effort to modernise German industry amid growing global competition and domestic political pressures.

These developments underline Mercedes‑Benz Group AG’s continued focus on shareholder value through share buybacks, its integration of advanced technologies, and its active engagement with national policy initiatives aimed at fostering innovation and industrial resilience.
