Linde plc, a global leader in industrial gases and engineering, has announced the expansion of its long‑term supply agreement with Tata Steel at the Kalinganagar Industrial Complex in Odisha, India. The expansion will double on‑site capacity by de‑captivating two air‑separation units, enabling the delivery of oxygen, nitrogen, and argon to support the steelmaker’s iron‑and‑steel production. The increased capacity is intended to help Tata Steel raise its annual output at the site from three million to eight million tonnes while also meeting growing demand for industrial gases in the regional merchant market.

The announcement, issued from Linde’s headquarters in the United Kingdom, highlights the firm’s longstanding partnership with Tata Steel and underscores the critical role that industrial gases play in modern steelmaking. Linde’s leadership, particularly its President for ASEAN & South Asia, noted that the project deepens network density in an important industrial region and positions the company to capture further growth opportunities in India.

Linde’s broader business continues to focus on providing high‑quality solutions and technologies across diverse end markets, including chemicals, energy, food and beverage, electronics, healthcare, manufacturing, metals, and mining. The company’s portfolio spans ultra‑high‑purity gases for semiconductor manufacturing, life‑saving medical oxygen, clean hydrogen production, and carbon capture technologies aimed at supporting customers’ productivity and sustainability goals.

Market observers note that the expansion aligns with Linde’s strategy to reinforce its supply‑chain resilience and expand its footprint in high‑growth emerging markets. While the announcement does not include immediate financial figures, it reflects a strategic move to strengthen the company’s presence in the Indian industrial‑gas sector and to support a key partner’s production‑scaling plans.
