German Technology and Mid‑Cap Indices Record Modest Declines on Friday
On Friday, the German technology index (TecDAX) recorded a modest decline in Frankfurt’s XETRA trading session. The TecDAX, which aggregates high‑growth technology stocks, slipped by a little over one percent to the close, while the broader MDAX, covering mid‑cap German companies, fell by a comparable margin. Both indices opened with small gains earlier in the day but ultimately finished lower than the previous close.
Nemetschek SE, a key component of both indices, was one of the better‑performing stocks, posting a moderate rise in its share price. Its performance helped cushion the overall index movement, but the company’s contribution was offset by weaker performers such as Siltronic, SUSS MicroTec (ex‑SÜSS MicroTec) and Elmos Semiconductor, which all saw declines in the low single‑digit percentage range.
In terms of market capitalisation, the MDAX’s largest holder remains the Porsche vz‑stock, while in the TecDAX the most valuable position belongs to SAP SE, with Nemetschek SE maintaining a solid market presence. Trading volumes were led by the Deutsche Telekom shares in the TecDAX and by the Lufthansa stock in the MDAX, reflecting the continued interest in the most liquid names.
Fundamentally, analysts noted that Nemetschek SE’s earnings outlook remains steady, and its valuation is considered reasonable within the sector context. The company’s dividend yield and price‑to‑earnings ratio are in line with peers, providing a balanced view for investors monitoring the technology and mid‑cap segments of the German market.
