Epiroc AB, the Swedish manufacturer of mining and infrastructure equipment, has announced a substantial new contract with the global mining company MMG Limited. The agreement concerns the supply of underground machinery for the Khoemacau copper mine located in Botswana’s Kalahari Copper Belt. The order includes a range of specialised rigs and trucks, as well as remote‑control solutions, spare parts, tools and on‑site service. Deliveries are expected to commence in the fourth quarter of the current year, with the full fleet projected to be operational by the second quarter of 2028.
The deal, recorded in the third quarter of 2026, is part of a broader partnership that sees Epiroc providing technology and training to support MMG’s expansion plans and the development of local mining expertise in Botswana. In a statement, Epiroc’s CEO highlighted the company’s long‑standing collaboration with MMG and its subsidiaries, noting that the new equipment will contribute to higher productivity, safety and sustainability at the mine.
Market observers have interpreted the announcement as a sign of continued demand for advanced underground equipment in emerging mining regions. It also reinforces Epiroc’s position as a key supplier to large mining operators, particularly those linked to Chinese state‑owned enterprises such as MMG’s majority shareholder China Minmetals. While the order is sizeable, the company’s management has framed it as a reinforcement of its existing customer relationships and an example of the firm’s capacity to deliver complex, integrated solutions on a global scale.
