Alstom has announced a new framework agreement with Northrail to supply up to one hundred of its Traxx Shunter locomotives, marking the commercial launch of the next‑generation platform. The deal, signed at the InnoTrans show in Berlin, includes delivery of the locomotives—designed for both electric and diesel operation—from Alstom’s Belfort facility in France, with first deliveries expected in late 2029. The agreement covers a core package of locomotives and a ten‑year maintenance service, while options for additional units and an extended maintenance period of up to two decades remain available.
The partnership highlights Northrail’s confidence in Alstom’s modular, hybrid‑powered solution, which is positioned to meet the growing demand for more sustainable shunting fleets across Europe.
