Airbus SE Shares Drift Lower Amid Share‑Repurchase Announcement

Airbus SE’s shares continued to trade in a modestly declining zone during the day, recording a slight decline of less than one percent on the Frankfurt exchange. The aircraft and defence‑systems manufacturer, which is a constituent of the DAX, STOXX 50 and Euro STOXX 50 indices, was among the smaller losers in the German market, trailing other European peers such as Rheinmetall and Deutsche Telekom.

In the same session, Airbus announced that it had carried out a series of share‑repurchase transactions between 28 September and 2 October. The programme, which was first disclosed in September, was aimed at supporting future employee‑share‑ownership and equity‑based compensation plans. The repurchases were executed at an average price near 191 EUR per share, with a total of roughly 974 000 shares bought back across the two trading days. The company confirmed that the programme has a cap of up to ten per cent of issued share capital, a limit approved by shareholders at the April general meeting.

The repurchase activity came amid a day of broad market gains, with the DAX and its German counterparts registering modest positive moves. Airbus’s share performance reflected the wider market trend, with the stock experiencing a small dip that placed it among the sector’s lower‑performing names for the day. The company’s market presence remains significant, with its shares listed on both the XETRA and XPAR exchanges and included in major European indices.
